Please Switch On The Light

Z does not sleep alone, he shares room with L. We usually turn off all the lights when we sleep and we don't even have a night light. They never have problem sleeping in darkness not even when they were babies.

At times, he requests LZdaddy to stay with him for a while after Bible stories. Since that Friday, he wants us to leave the entrance light on. If we forget, he will remind us. Few days after that Friday, I told him it was ok and that jiejie was with him but he insisted that I leave the light on. Sometimes when we saw that he is fast asleep, we turn off the light. Then minutes or hours later, we will see him coming to our room and asks for the light.

I talked to him the other day and asked him why, he said he thinks of the removal of the pins and he is scared. Gosh! He is so traumatized by the incident! I hope this is not going to affect him long term.... My poor baby.... What can I do to make him feel better? I assure him everyday that it is over and he is ok now but he still can't get over it. I really don't know what to do.... Hope he will get over it in no time... Meanwhile, we will have to leave the light on for him.

Poor boy. Only time can heal now. Do let him know that there are many aunties on the blogspere wishing him well. A big hug to him, please. And also one to L for being a good jiejie.

Hi LZmommy, I think I can understand what Z and you going thru. The fear is in him still. It will take a while make him more relax about it. Just keep reassuring him and it may takes a while.

Just like Grace when she had nose bleed, whatever that flowed out from her nose, she will be terrified but reassuring and patience from us are important. Take care ya.

Hi LZmommy, noticed your callsign at Jo-n's, you have very cute kids.
Re the night light...this my opinion, and experience...get one of those nightlights, not too bright....as he is still young, better to make him comfortable then he losing sleep and maybe wakes at night bothers you.

Believe me, he will get over it....boys get over their whatever fears fast....but now he needs the comfort of the light.
You can also have a chat with him...and learn why....explain that its just nothing to be worried about. But he will get over it...
You keep well and have a great week, Lee.

I would be traumatized too, let alone a little boy like Z.

Patience Mommy, patience....the more comforting words you try to say to him, the more you would be reminding him of the incident...so just let it go with the wind and time will remove the fear...

let him take his time...to recover though that would mean higher electricity bills...*wink*

Hi dearie..for him to forget such traumatized incidents is not possible..but time will heal his "worry" and soon this "nightmare" will be a thing of the past.

When hb was young, he was being attacked by a monitor lizard (a really big one) and till now, he still jump at the sight of any tiny lizard.

Looks like the fear is still in him. Just leave the light on for a couple of days to "stabilise" him. Hugs hugs :):)
